“Good morning,” said Mike walking into the kitchen.

“Morning Daddy,” said Michelle as she ate her pancakes. “Are you going to sit down and eat pancakes with me and mommy?” Mike smiled as he sat down in the chair next to his daughter. Tia was standing at the stove watching them, wondering what’s going to happen when the truth comes out.

“Mommy!” shouted Michelle, startling Tia out of her thoughts.

“Yes baby,” said Tia looking over at Michelle.

“Can you make my daddy some pancakes, please?” she asked politely. “And please don’t burn his like you did the first ones.” Mike started laughing, as a smile came across Tia’s face.

“You wasn’t supposed to tell daddy. That was supposed to be our little secret,” said Tia.

“But my daddy told me to never keep secrets from him, or else I’d be in big trouble,” Michelle replied. “And I don’t want to be in trouble with my daddy.” Mike rubbed his daughter’s hair, before kissing her on the forehead.

“That’s a good girl,” said Mike glaring up at Tia. A cold chill came down her spine, as the pancakes she had on the griddle started to burn. Smoke started to rise as the smoke detector went off.

“Oh my God!” shouted Tia turning back around.

“What are you trying to do?” asked Mike jumping up from the table. “Kill us?” He walked over to the smoke detector and fanned in front of it. He hit the reset button, before opening up the back door.

“Mommy, maybe we should leave the pancakes to Daddy. He does a better job.” Mike looked over at his daughter, then back at Tia and smiled.
